I was raised on a dairy farm in Monticello, a charming town nestled in Eastern Iowa. My educational journey took me to the University of Iowa, where I spent four enriching years before advancing to the University of Iowa College of Dentistry to earn my Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree. My passion for dentistry blossomed, particularly in the realms of surgery and pediatric care. This led me to join a dental practice specializing in children's dental health.
Since 2009, I've been dedicated to pediatric dentistry in the Des Moines area. My approach to treating children is not only about providing exceptional dental care but also about creating positive, memorable experiences from their earliest dental visits. In the words of Forrest Gump, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get," and this unpredictability makes pediatric dentistry especially rewarding.
My commitment to pediatric dentistry is recognized by several esteemed organizations:
Interestingly, my journey into dentistry was sparked by personal dental misadventures. At the age of 3.5, a skateboarding accident led to the loss of my two front teeth, making for some memorable Christmas and school photos. Later, during a high school baseball game, a similar incident occurred, reinforcing my interest in dentistry. These experiences not only shaped my career path but also allow me to empathize deeply with young patients experiencing dental emergencies.
Beyond my practice, I am committed to giving back. I've been part of a mission trip to El Salvador, offering dental care to those in need. Locally, I support the Iowa Mission of Mercy and engage in dental education at schools and health fairs. My dedication extends to any community initiative where my skills as a pediatric dentist can make a difference.
Should you have any community projects or educational opportunities where you believe a pediatric dentist can contribute, please feel free to reach out. I am always eager to support and engage with the community.
